During an expert review of two cooking Web
sites, I recommended a number of changes, including these two:
Marketing: Many
pages were too crowded. One recommendation was to have tie-ins only to
books that were relevant to the recipe or technique on a given page.
That would make people more likely to be interested.
Printer-friendly
pages: I recommended a simple printer-friendly page that had some
branding on the page, but didn't have all navigation and marketing
information. This change makes it easier for site visitors to print
and use recipes. See the example below.
Example: This image shows the printer-friendly
page without the branding and navigation from
the main page. It prints on fewer pages and is easier to use in the kitchen.
(I know
this for a fact from experience!)
