Description

A price drop on a product someone already bought is not just a discount. It is a reason to come back. Every day, this automation scans for products whose price dropped yesterday and cross-references them with customers who bought that product in the last year. If the contact has email consent and is outside the 7-day send window, a personalized email goes out showing exactly which of their past purchases just got cheaper, with the new price front and center. No generic promotions. No irrelevant offers. Just a timely, honest nudge that turns a routine price change into a repeat purchase opportunity.

How it works in practice

Every morning, the system quietly runs through the product catalog looking for items whose price dropped yesterday. For each match, it checks the purchase history: did this contact buy that product in the last 30 to 365 days? Do they have email consent? Are they outside the 7-day messaging window? If all three are true, a personalized email goes out. Not a generic sale newsletter. An email that says, in effect: a product you actually bought just got cheaper, and here is the new price. The contact clicks through, sees the deal, and decides. No pressure, no irrelevance. Once the email is sent, a 7-day pause kicks in so the same contact does not receive another price alert too soon.

1

Daily price drop scan: Each day, the automation triggers for all contacts whose purchase history includes a product where Price drop date equals yesterday. This targets only relevant contacts and products, keeping the scope precise.

2

Eligibility check: For each matching product, the system verifies three conditions: the contact's last purchase was between 30 and 365 days ago, Consent email is TRUE, and the contact is not already in the Capping email segment. All three must be met.

3

Personalized price drop email: If all conditions are met, the contact receives an email listing the products they previously bought that are now cheaper. Each product is shown with its name, image, product URL, and updated sale price.

4

7-day send pause applied: Once the email is sent, a Capping email event is created and the contact is added to the Capping email segment. This pauses any further price drop messages to that contact for seven days.
